Also this week, a feature on jazz cellist Erik Friedlander and his Broken Arm Trio, a pick for the exceedingly XPN-friendly Bad Plus +1, with vocalist Wendy Lewis; a Soundadvice blurb for ex-Wall of Voodoo frontman and all-around strange guy Stan Ridgway, and an arts pick for New Yorker reporter Steve Coll and his book The Bin Ladens.
